What it is

A resin from a Commiphora relative, sometimes sold as sweet myrrh, which describes it reasonably well.

What it smells like

Sweet and balsamic with a warm, faintly liquorice depth. It is softer and rounder than myrrh proper and is used to give an amber base some shadow without darkening it.
